2024 Summer Internship

Torrid_1030_Black_edited.jpg

This summer I had the pleasure of joining the Torrid team as a merchandising intern in their headquarters located in the City of Industry, CA.

How It Went

Typical Day

A day in the office for me looks like a lot of shaddowing in meetings, researching popular trends within the company, and adding info to the buy plans and TOP sheets.

Best Experience

The best experience I had at Torrid this summer was when I had the opportunity to tag along to the green tag meetings and see the product we have been producing in real life rather than just on a screen. It was rewarding to see the CADs come to life.

Worst Experience

The worst experience I had during my internship was when the guidelines for my project kept changing. Managing the change may have been stressful but I was able to overcome the difficulty by using effective communication.

Biggest Lesson

Something I learned this summer is that it is okay to ask questions and seek support from the other interns. Since we were all in the program together, it is important to communicate with each other to reduce confusion, and share learning experiences.

Some Kind Words

"Emily is very eager ti learn and participate in appropriate projects and duties. She is very trend savvy and has a great POV to help drive business success. Emily is very valued and would be an asset to any company!"

(Intern Supervisor)

Projects

Above is a powerpoint project I put together to represent the graphic tees that were hits and misses for Torrid's consumers. I searched through the reviews from their website based on fit, quality, and aesthetic. I noted the positives, negatives, and flaws that may have been overlooked in the production process.

Above is a sheet that I compiled for product from our upcoming FESTI capsule wardrobe that I would like to see in stores in regards to UPAS and store grading. Additionally, I included an image of a mock store of what I would like the layout to look ideally in the allocated 8 ft space.
